UK City of Culture 2021: Coventry Cathedral Extension
Coventry Cathedral is unique in heritage when placed among other British Cathedrals. It is an outstanding example of modernist mid 20th century architecture, noted as ‘the nation’s favourite 20th century building’, and is a global symbol and agency for facilitating reconciliation.
Kelley Christ of AR&ME is delighted to be working with the Dean & Chapter of Coventry Cathedral as their appointed architect at such a pivotal moment of its history, as the Cathedral is about to celebrate 100 years with Cathedral Status. A re-evaluation of the original vision conceived by Sir Basil Spence could not have come at a better time.
